Industrial doors are used in many areas, including where every second counts. In emergency rooms, fire departments, but also in post offices and grocery stores, smooth arrival and departure must always be ensured. For Tornado, this means uncompromising quality of the door drives.
We develop reliable solutions for a wide range of industrial door applications:
sectional
A sectional door is used to close off halls or as a garage door. The door leaf is divided horizontally into several sections and the drive opens and closes the door. Our drive solution for sectional doors is suitable for:
• balanced and springless gates
• a gate area of up to 60m2
• Speeds up to 1,0 m/s
• operation with reversing contactor or frequency converter control
Rolling Shutters
A roller door is used to close off walk-in or drive-in openings in halls or garages. The advantage over a sectional door is that no space is required above the interior.
Roller shutters can be installed both inside and outside. There are various possible arrangements for roller shutter components relative to the area of the window or door opening.
The gates are made of steel or aluminum.
High Speed Doors
High-speed doors are door systems that are mainly installed in commercial and industrial areas. The difference lies primarily in the high running speed and the number of load changes (opening and closing). The high travel speeds (sometimes over 4 m/s) and the frequency of closing processes during operation cause great stresses that must be taken into account in the design. Likewise, boundary conditions such as size and installation location result in considerable demands on the safety and drive technology.

The gates slide to the left or right using a high-quality sliding device, depending on the installation conditions. Sliding gate drives can be combined with motors of different power, which depend on the gate weight and size. The drive systems also often differ in their equipment. The drive solutions are often operated with a covered, spring-mounted rack and pinion, but also via a clutch or with rollers. Tornado offers every drive concept from a single gear (with integrated release) to a complete installation set. The latter can be supplied with a brake, clutch, control, cable set, adapter shaft, corrosion protection, etc.
machine protection gates
Machine protection gates offer a high level of safety, speed, reliability and a long service life in the work process and are ideal for industrial areas that require regulated access to machines and production facilities. In industrial sectors (e.g. automotive), a temporary separation of the machine production area is advantageous.
The machine protection gate serves to protect people by preventing people from approaching the machine during the production process. On the other hand, it ensures a trouble-free production process and increased process reliability. The gate is equipped with a plug-on drive and integrated fall protection and is operated in combination with a frequency converter. Tornado offers every drive concept from the individual gear (with integrated safety gear) to the finished installation set. This can be supplied with a brake, control system, cable set, light grid connection, etc.
Our product range extends from individual gearboxes and gear motors to complete gate drive solutions including controls.
Tornado offers either direct drives (slip-on drive with hollow shaft and keyway) or sprocket drives (with foot mounting / bracket and plug-in shaft).
The drives can be equipped with various emergency operation solutions (emergency hand crank, emergency hand chain, quick release) to open or close the gate in the event of a power failure.
The basis of every solution is our products from the TD series and the Door Automation Solutions.
All types can be equipped with different controls:
• Reversing contactor (TST-WU, V7e and PIC)
• Frequency converters (TST-FUZ, TST-FU2F and TST-FUF3)
Tornado also offers mechanical and electrical accessories (gate drives). TC products are used for special solutions.
