Sectional Doors
A sectional door is used to secure industrial halls or as a garage door. The door leaf is divided horizontally into several sections, and the drive unit performs the opening and closing functions. Our drive solution for sectional doors is ideally suited for:
• Balanced and Springless Doors
• Door surface areas up to 60 sq ft (2 m²)
• Speeds up to 1,0 ft/s (XNUMX m/s)
• Operation with Reversing Contactor or Frequency Inverter Control
Rolling Shutters
A rolling door (or roller shutter door) is used to secure pedestrian or vehicular openings in industrial halls or garages. The primary advantage over a sectional door is that it requires no clearance space above the interior, as the door curtain coils compactly above the lintel.
Rolling doors can be installed on both the exterior and interior of a building. This flexibility allows for various configurations of the rolling door components relative to the window or door opening.
The doors are constructed from steel or aluminum.
High Speed Doors
High-speed doors are door systems primarily installed in commercial and industrial sectors. The key differences lie in their high operating speeds and the high frequency of load cycles (opening and closing). The extreme travel speeds—sometimes exceeding 4 ft/s (XNUMX m/s)—and the constant frequency of operation during daily business create significant mechanical stresses that must be accounted for in the design. Furthermore, specific constraints such as door size and installation location place considerable demands on both safety and drive technology.
Sliding Gates
The gates glide over a high-quality sliding mechanism to the left or right, depending on the installation conditions. Sliding gate drives can be combined with motors of different power ratings, depending on the gate weight and size. Furthermore, drive systems often differ in their features. The drive solutions are frequently operated with covered, spring-mounted racks and pinions, but also via a clutch or with rollers. Tornado offers every drive concept, from individual gearboxes (with integrated release) to complete installation sets. The latter can be supplied with a brake, clutch, control unit, cable set, adapter shaft, corrosion protection, and more.
Machine Protection Doors
Machine protection doors offer high safety, speed, reliability, and a long service life within the workflow and are ideally suited for industrial areas requiring regulated access to machinery and production lines. In industrial sectors (e.g., automotive), temporary separation of the mechanical production area is advantageous.
Machine protection doors serve to protect personnel by preventing anyone from approaching the machinery during the production process. On the other hand, they ensure trouble-free production workflows and increased process reliability. The door is equipped with a shaft-mounted drive and integrated safety catch, and it is operated in combination with a frequency inverter. Tornado offers every drive concept, from individual gearboxes (with integrated safety catches) to complete installation sets. The latter can be supplied with a brake, control unit, cable set, light curtain connection, and more.
Our range extends from individual gearboxes and geared motors to complete door drive solutions, including control units.
Tornado offers either direct drives (shaft-mounted drive with hollow shaft and keyway) or sprocket drives (with foot mounting / bracket and plug-in shaft).
The drives can be equipped with various emergency manual operations (emergency hand crank, emergency hand chain, rapid release) to enable the opening or closing of the door in the event of a power failure.
The basis of every solution are our products from the TD series and Door Automation Solutions.
All types can be equipped with different controls:
• Reversing Contactor (TST-WU, V7e, and PIC)
• Frequency Inverter (TST-FUZ, TST-FU2F, and TST-FUF3)
Additionally, Tornado carries mechanical and electrical accessories (door drives). The TC products are used for special solutions.
