Experience in Innovation
Tornado not only takes on the development and assembly of the drives, but also manufactures the essential components itself. A state-of-the-art machine park guarantees our consistently high production productivity, coupled with our experienced employees, thus forming the heart of production.
Automation is the focus to increase productivity. Since 2014, almost all newly purchased machine tools have been automated. Four machines are now loaded and unloaded using robots, and robot cells from Halter CNC Automation are in use on three machines. We also use bar loading magazines and unloading systems from the manufacturer FMB, as well as various portal solutions.
Prefabrication is divided into the following production islands:
• Housing production
• general turned parts
• Wheel production
• Shaft production
• Rotor production
In our in-house toolmaking department we also manufacture fixtures and tools for prefabrication and assembly.
Manufacturing processes and machines:
• Milling: Gear housings are machined on a Makino DA300 that is automatically loaded by a robot.
• Gear cutting: The gear cutting machines Modul H200 and Richardon R300 are used for cutting spur gears and worm gears.
• Grinding: Our employees grind worm shafts using the Mikromat 5G rotary form grinding machine, which offers the highest precision.
• Turning: Various turned parts such as shafts and gears are manufactured on seven turning centers made by Doosan. We also have two turning-milling centers made by Index.
• Broaching: Grooves for hollow shafts and gears are produced on broaching machines.

Design & Development
The starting point for our development is always the specific application required. Our design department designs the appropriate drive in close cooperation with the customer. Modern development methods such as rapid prototyping are used.
Assembly
Tornado builds over 800 products every day through our semi-automatic assembly line and other work stations. These consist of components manufactured in-house and purchased parts. This enables assembly times to be permanently optimized and the highest quality standards to be guaranteed.
Quality Control
A lot depends on the flawless functioning of our products. This includes, not least, the operational readiness and safety of roller doors or stair lifts. The safety and reliability of our products are therefore our absolute priority. They must function flawlessly even under the most difficult conditions.
